Literature at Untersee

The Frauenfeld-born writer and cellist Eva Maria Hux reads from her new novel “Die Hand der Mirjam” (The hand of Mirjam) and frames the reading with music for solo cello. The will of a celebrated writer, a disturbing manuscript and a mysterious amulet force the two unequal daughters to come to terms with their own past – and with a repressed chapter of European history. The novel is set in the present day in the Lake Constance area – but the revelations go back even to the 2nd World War. It is the story of a love wrested from fate, because he plunges the following generations into misfortune.

Eva Maria Hux studied music, translation and cultural management, was employed as head of culture as the Swiss Embassy in Stockholm from 2008 to 2011, and now works as a concert cellist, translator and producer, and writes short thrillers and novels. She lives in Stockholm.
