Oral History III – Transfer IV
Excursion with a visit at the Hesse Museum Gaienhofen. Back at Haus zur Glocke, Karen Geyer continues her interview recordings, this time talking to people who have dedicated themselves to writing.
After Karen Geyer introduced a former resident of the Haus in an interview in 2017, and let a long-time neighbor have her say in 2018, now, in 2019, she has conducted interviews with three writers. These three people of Steckborn, all of them dedicated to writing, are: Heidi Niederhäuser, Werner Diethelm and Franziska Späni Reck. The three came to writing for widely different reasons. Franziska Späni Reck: “Already as a child, I was given the chance to discuss new children’s books. I don’t know if all my texts have been published, but a lot of it for sure.” Heidi Niederhäuser: “When my husband died my children gave me a computer and asked me to write down all the stories from my childhood on the farm.” Werner Dietrich: “When I was on holiday with my family, I got up early in the morning and went to the forest to write until noon. That worked wonderfully.” The live broadcast of Karen Geyer at the Haus zur Glocke starts at 5 p.m. and lasts just under an hour. After this, soup provided by two people of Steckborn, Adrian Rieder and David Wälti, is served.
